A beacon of light can lead us to a safe harbour, but the endless pursuit of peace can become an everlasting quest when we are searching in the wrong places.

seeking hope

Lighthouses have always served as a symbol of hope to me. They represent a guiding light on the distant horizon in the dark of night. The notion of a beacon that can lead us to a secure harbor, a place of solace and rejuvenation is a comforting and reassuring concept. It is a pursuit that can consume our entire lives, an everlasting quest for hope that will ultimately lead us to a state of tranquillity and contentment. However, this search can also be the most arduous and challenging journey we undertake. When we come to accept that both light and darkness coexist, that they are both essential and beneficial aspects of our lives, we can begin to comprehend the essence of life itself. By embracing the duality of light and dark, and acknowledging that one cannot exist without the other, we can attain self-acceptance and live a life that is illuminated and guided by our own internal compass. In essence, we become our own lighthouse.

The original image was captured during daylight hours. It has since been transformed into a nocturnal piece, incorporating elements of parchment, scratched metal, and spray-painted paper to create the illusion of a starry night sky. The addition of blue tones represents the darkness that accompanies life, while the digitally created yellow light emitted by the beacon serves as a connection to happier moments.
