Set in the still waters of Miyajima, the torii gate of Itsukushima Shrine rises with quiet presence. Built in the twelfth century, it appears to float between worlds. Earth and water. Sacred and ordinary. Tourists move around it with cameras in hand, but the gate itself does not shift. It remains steady and certain.

In Reflection
This image captures that calm. A moment of pause in a place filled with movement. While the surroundings change, the structure holds space. Not only for tradition, but for reflection. It offers something rare. A quiet centre in the middle of everything.

We each carry a similar space within us. A personal stillness that exists beneath noise and activity. But modern life pulls us away from it. We move fast while absorbing too much. In turn, we forget how to return to ourselves. This slips away unnoticed as we devour more of the shiny distractions around us.

And yet, that pull to reconnect never disappears. The more disconnected we feel, the more we are drawn to find that place again. Not out of obligation, but out of need. Spaces like this remind us that peace does not need to be created. It only needs to be remembered.

In My Life
There are inner sanctuaries I rarely allow others to enter, spaces that feel sacred and untouchable. Encountering this work reminded me of the importance of honouring those places, not out of fear but out of reverence. Within them lie truths that shape who I am, waiting to be acknowledged with patience. Adytum continues to teach me that protecting what is most profound within myself is as vital as sharing what is visible.
