This photograph was captured in the fishing township of Negombo, Sri Lanka. The fishing boat appears minuscule compared to the vast expanse of the sea and the sky surrounding it. The inspiration behind this artwork stems from the essence of life itself, reflecting upon our journey through it, our perception of self, and our significance on this planet. There are moments when we may feel like a small fish in a vast pond, overlooked or overshadowed by the world and the events that unfold around us. Throughout our lives, we may encounter periods of tranquillity or endure years of enduring hardships. As we navigate the unpredictable waters of life, we accumulate wisdom from our experiences, and it is our choice to utilise this awareness to improve ourselves and shape our futures. This image serves as a gentle reminder that we are all sailing together, regardless of how independent, isolated, or alone we may feel.
In Reflection
Step into the depths of my soul, where childhood memories intertwine with the turbulence of adolescence. This intimate journey fuels my creative process, as I strive to capture the essence of my younger self. Lost and insignificant, I meandered through life’s vast ocean of choices, concealing unspoken emotions within. Sometimes painful and sometimes inspiring, it is a period of my life that now drives the creative force within me. A journey I would not trade for anything in this life.
In My Life
I know the sensation of being carried by forces larger than myself, uncertain of where they might lead. The vastness of the sea mirrored times in my life when direction felt unclear, yet perseverance kept me afloat. That small vessel became a symbol of resilience, of continuing forward despite isolation. High Seas reminds me that even when the destination is hidden, the journey itself holds meaning and strength.
